Watercolor, Art Journaling & YouTube Videos

Hello everyone!

It's been long, I haven't posted anything.. Let me tell you what I was doing! I am practicing watercoloring.. I am loving it soooo much! Also, I have fallen in love with the Spectrum Noir Metallic Markers!

I have made some projects with the metallic markers. The first one was for the last HSN show..

One of my etsy shop customers saw it & asked me to make a larger canvas for her! Here is the one:

And That is a 16"X20" Canvas! Loved making it! It was really fun to create! She also ordered another one, which is almost completed..

Then, I decided to make some youtube videos.. So, my first one was a simple card made with the metallic markers

And here is the video! :)

I was inspired to make some watercolor doodled backgrounds, while watching videos of Creationsceecee I watch her videos for a long time, but decided to practice recently..

I have created these on A2 card fronts, But, have decided to save them digitally to print & use them later..

Remember my New year's plans? I decided to create at least one art journal page each month? I did it! I have created in January & February, but I was not satisfied enough to share with everyone! So, on March, I decided to go for watercoloring & to film it. So that if the work is good enough, I can upload it! And guess what? I thought this one is better than the last two! :)

And here is the video:

I am still learning the video editing. But I hope I will get better & will try to share more projects inshAllah.. :)

Let me know what do you think about my videos!

Thank you!

Mixed Media Canvas Art with Sheena Douglass 3D Stencil

Hello Everyone!

Today, I'm going to share with you one of my recent favorite piece of art! Guess what? Yes, it's a mixed media canvas.. :)

I made this art for my best friend, who lives in Bangladesh.. She got married recently, & luckily I got a chance to send her a gift with someone! I wasn't too sure what to do, but I decided to keep the base blue & obviously create something with "Sheena" douglass collection!

At first, I created a white & prussian blue mixed background, which I loved so much, that it took me a lot of courage (?!) to start working over it! Then, to create a textured look, I used pink & mermaid teal acrylic paint over Sheena Create-A-Flower: Dissolving Planets (I made another project with this stencil. You can read about that Here). Although it looked okay, I couldn't like the result.. I was soooo confused what to add now! It took me 3 days to decide to add a flower, finally!

I couldn't add too dimensional objects, as I had to ship it to another state & then it would be carried in the luggage. So, I decided to use this beautiful new 3D stencil from Sheena Douglass.. This is the Sheena 3D stencil- "Sunflower". I just picked an old dictionary page, pasted it to a thin cardstock, Stencilled it with yellow-orange-red for the flower & yellow-green for the leaves & stem. & then glued it on the canvas.. Then I drawed some rough details with a pen & added Glass bead gel & some Microbeads at the center.. Also, to match the background with the flowers I mixed some modeling paste & yellow paint & used it with this stencil..

As a finishing touch, I added some white gesso splatters & painted the side of the canvas black! :)

Hope you liked my art! Let me know if you would like to see more blog posts like this!

Thank you!

Changing theme: Valentine's Day cards made with Christmas die

Hello everyone!
If you are a fan of Crafter's Companion, you may already know how amazing is the "Sara Signature Scandinavian Christmas" collection is! There are two mixed media dies in this set.. One of them is called Love Birds... This die is beautiful! It is perfect for christmas ornaments & many more other projects..

I was planning to make some Valentine's Day themed card for my Etsy shop & was looking for any heart shaped die in my collection! I found this, which seemed perfect to me! :)
So, I die cut some red hearts from the Candy Red shimmering cardstock & put them in the center of the card & topped it with a little vellum heart & a sentiment on black cardstock.. I have used 3 different colored shimmering cardstocks (Pink PearlSilver Starlight & Gold Dust) for the background & Gold Mirror Luxury Cardstock for the border.. For base I have used Kraft Cardstock..

I loved the way it turned out.. The vellum heart made the card design extra special! Don't you think?! :)

When I cut the heart of red shimmering card, I was actually planning to use the base of the card.. But later I came with the idea of that one.. So, I had some red bases where the heart was cut out from.. I also had some tiny die cut leftover bits.. So, I cut a another heart wit the same die, this time out of a gold glitter luxury cardstock & did some diecut inlay with the red leftover pieces... It may look easy, but it was very difficult for me to get those little pieces in proper places!

But, I loved the end result! I intentionally kept it simple.. without any sentiment or embellishments.. Now it can be used for any occasions!

A Year in Crafting & New Year's Plans

Hello everyone! Happy New Year & Welcome to my blog..

It was a wonderful year alhamdulillah.. A year with lots of new experiences! Or should I say a year with Crafter's Companion! Yes, it was the best experience that could ever happen to me! Though I have almost turned into a crafter from a mixed media artist, but I am loving it..
I have had so many new experiences & got to know so much about papercrafting! I have used diecutting machine, watercolors, alcohol markers & learned about different types & sizes of paper, cuts & shapes of cards all for the first time in my life! It would have never happened to me if I wasn't blessed with this Amazing design team! Everyone related to my team is so helpful, I never felt like I don't know anything about papercrafting..
I started taking & editing better photos, Blogging about my work & also selling more on my etsy shop TAVANA CREATIONS

Here are photos of some cards I made for my shop for holidays & New Year...

So, for 2018, I have some plans to fulfill..
I would like to get more involved in crafting! My plan is to create at least 2 cards every month
I have realized, I miss acrylic paints & mixed media! This is my first love! so, I need to make more arts.. in any form.. May be once a month!
Art Journaling! Yes. I bought a Strathmore 500 Mixed Media Journal some days ago, and now can't wait to start! Primarily my plan is to only do mixed media journaling, may be once a month! I need to sit every week to achieve that, as none of my works are done in single sitting!
Watercoloring.. I want to experiment more on watercoloring! May be create a small tag or index card size collection with all my experimental techniques! I am not sure yet, but I do have plans for that too!
I might give a try to youtube videos.. I have already made an experimental one (to see, click Here), but I really need to improve & learn editing a lot!
And lastly, I should show more love to my blog & the etsy shop!

I know this year will be not easy to get so much involved in crafting, as I am a Stay at home mom & all my situations & free time are unpredictable! But, still, there is no harm to plan something exciting, right? What are your plans? Do you want me to try or show something? Let me know.. & yes, please follow my blog so that you can get my updates!

That was all for my today's post.. before saying goodbye, let me show you some of my lates DT projects for January HSN show!

Thanks a lot for reading my loooong post, & have a very happy new year! <3

My First Mixed Media Altered Bottle

Hello Everyone!

I haven't written any post for a while.. Got busy with everyday life. But, today I am going to share a project created for my DT, for our next TV launch on HSN 6th November.

Crafter's Companion is coming up with some amazing material packs this time! Cork, Wood Veneer, Craft Metal, Hessian & Denim! I have used Hessian & Denim on today's project I'm going to share..

As a mixed media artist, I am always interested to create altered items.. So, as soon as I got the "Starbucks Frappuccino" bottle in my hand, I knew what to do with this! :)

For altering this bottle, at first I applied gesso all over to prime it well. Primarily I wanted to wanted to keep it white. But, I don't know why, after priming, I thought I should paint it in copper, & as soon as I was done painting, I didn't like it much! So, I applied a light layer of gesso on it.. I liked the final look though..

I cut the Hessian material according to my bottle size & used modelling paste on a stencil to add texture. May be I was still missing the white, that's why I added this one! ;)

For creating the focus, I used 2 dies from the new Flutterby Collection by Sara Davies which is also coming on HSN.. The whole collection includes lots of amazing dies, stamps, papers & a foil transfer kit.. I cut the denim into different sized butterflies & embellished them with flatback pearls.

I also added a round piece of Hessian material & denim butterfly on the cap. And finished it by tying a bow with a jute twine on the neck of the bottle.

I was really worried what would it look like , but actually loved it! Let me know how did you like it & if you want to see me doing this type of altered projects more!

Thank you!
